Wikki Tourists sign Egyptian player Jamaal

NIGERIA Professional Football League club Wikki Tourists have signed Egyptian player Mahmoud Jamaal.

The Bauchi-based club unveiled Jamaal on Friday, making him the first player from Egypt set to feature in the NPFL.

The details of the left-back’s deal were not revealed but there are reports he is in Bauchi on a short-term contract.

Jamaal joins a legion of foreign players currently in the NPFL spread across most of the 20 clubs.

Wikki Tourists have three more foreigners in the squad, all from Cameroon: Joel Djondang, Aladun Kolumba, Essombo Francky.

Kano Pillars are home to players from Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana, while Enyimba harbour six non-Nigerian players — three from Benin Republic and three from Ghana.

Kwara United have Brazilian Lucas Alves and Ibrahim Kone from Cote d’Ivoire.

Enugu Rangers have six players from West African countries Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal, with Katsina United are employing two players from Niger Republic and one from Senegal.

Abia Warriors, Heartland, Rivers United and Lobi Stars also have foreigners in their squads in varying numbers.

However, MFM, Dakkada, Warri Wolves and Sunshine are among the NPFL clubs with wholly Nigerian squads.
