IMO: Gunmen shoot security vehicle, others in Owerri

AT least four people were caught in a hail of bullets fired by suspected robbers who operated for hours yesterday at Orji, on Owerri-Okigwe Road, very close to the Orji Police Division.

The victims of the attack were said to be motorists.

But of particular interest was a motorist who was driving an unmarked security vehicle.

It appeared the robbers trailed him to the spot and shot him before attacking other vehicles, including commercial buses, in their bid to escape from the area.

The incident, while it lasted,  abruptly stopped commercial activities in the area as people scampered for safety.

Motorists yet to be attacked turned back or abandoned their vehicles on the road.

The suspect shot indiscriminately as they fled.
