GOVERNOR Sanwo-Olu has admonished head of parastatals and companies on the need to deliver quality service aside working as team in ensuring the agencies’ mandate.

The governor made this known, yesterday, at a parley with head of parastatals and companies.

Sanwo-Olu said all the heads of parastatals must work together as a team to achieve quality performance.

He also noted that working as a team is critical to playing their role in helping his administration to deliver good governance to the residents.

“There is no one who is irreplaceable. You should always do a self appraisal of yourself if you don’t have two or three people that can replace you, then you haven’t done enough.”

Sanwo- Olu noted that some agencies are even bigger than some ministries noting that they should see their post as commitment

“There are those who believe that we can do it, and work towards making Lagos better than the way we met it, we must go out to do it and not disappoint them.”

The Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat said the vision of Lagos is to become a model city, and Lagos doesn’t compare itself with other states in Nigeria.

He advised head of parastatals to relate with one another in order to succeed, noting that agencies must spring up to her responsibilities

In a paper, at the event, Managing Director of Complete Football and Complete Sports, Dr Mumini Alao, who spoke on private sector management strategies and strategies for government parastatals, likened government parastatals to a football team where each one has a role to play in delivering good governance to the people and the dividends of democracy.

He encouraged the state government to create more avenues to improve on sports.

According to him, “Parastatals should actually set a benchmark for themselves amongst their world contemporaries in other regions of the world in terms of service delivery and methodology.”

Special Adviser to the government on Parastatals and Government Owned Companies (PMO), Afolabi Ayantayo in his address said, the PMO was established in 1986 to manage parastatals but was upgraded to a ministry under the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu led-administration.

The office, according to him, is to promote good governance and it has been able to carry out its activities effectively . According to him, “Our plan is to set up a library where activities of all parastatals and agencies of government will be well documented for all to see.”
