‘I’m fine’: Osimhen assures Napoli fans after clash of heads

SUPER Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has given a positive update about his condition after having to be substituted on Sunday night.

The 22-year-old scored Napoli’s goal in the 1-1 Serie A draw at home to Cagliari but was taken off in the 75th minute after clashing heads with a defender while going for an aerial ball.

Osimhen has been unlucky with injuries since his Napoli move in August, suffering another clash of heads earlier and breaking his shoulder while on international duty with Nigeria in November.

He also contracted Covid-19 and missed many games due to these incidents.

However, he has been in good form and good health for the past month, scoring four goals in his last five Serie A appearances.

The image of the Nigeria international walking off the pitch with his head bandaged obviously got Napoli fans worried and they expressed their concern on social media.

When one fan with the username @forevernapoli04 wondered about Osimhen’s condition, the striker responded with positive news.

“But does anyone know how @victorosimhen9 is doing?” the fan tweeted.

“Now that’s the thing that worries me the most.”

Osimhen replied: “Thanks for checking me out, I’m fine and I can’t wait for the next match … we’ll give everything to the end.”

Osimhen has overcome a slow start to make 10 goal contributions in 20 Serie A appearances: eight goals and two assists.

The draw with Cagliari left Napoli in fifth place in Serie A, two points off fourth place and a UEFA Champions League spot.
