SUPER Eagles captain Ahmed Musa marked his return to Kano Pillars by playing a part in the team’s only goal on Sunday.
The former Leicester City forward made a surprise return to Kano Pillars recently after leaving Saudi Arabia’s Al Nasr and made his first appearance in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.
Musa set up Rabiu Ali in the 80th minute for Pillars’ only goal in the 1-0 win over Adamawa United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
Ali had missed a penalty moments earlier before Musa assisted him for the winner.
In an NPFL matchday full of dramatic results, four clubs went away from home and snatched victories.
Rivers United stunned Rangers in Enugu with a 1-0 win courtesy of Godwin Aguda who punished his former club with an eighth minute goal.
Nasarawa United defeated their hosts Wikki Tourists 2-1.
The home side scored first through Manu Garba in the 22nd minute but Anas Yusuf equalised for Nasarawa United 11 minutes later, and Silas Neankwo netted in the 46th minute to seal the three points for the visitors.
Akwa United were the away side in the Uyo derby with Dakkada but eased to a 2-0 victory.
Charles Atshimene scored twice in the 11th and 48th minutes to boost Akwa United’s quest for the title.
Lagos club MFM FC also won away, beating Warri Wolves 2-0 in Delta State.
Ifeanyi Onyebuchi and Clement Ogwu were on the scoresheet in the first half to give MFM a rare road victory.
In other fixtures on Sunday, Heartland defeated Katsina United 2-0, Kwara United beat Plateau United 2-0, while Lobi Stars eased to a 2-0 win over FC IfeanyiUbah.
The only draw of the matchday was the 0-0 stalemate between hosts Sunshine Stars and visiting Jigawa Golden Stars.
