VICTOR Osimhen was in action on Sunday as Napoli laboured to a 2-0 Serie A win away to Fiorentina.
The Super Eagles striker did not score but he occupied the Fiorentina defence for 84 minutes and was involved in Napoli’s second goal.
Gennaro Gattuso’s side went up to third with the win and will finish in the top four if they win their final league game at home against Verona next week.
They are on 76 points in third place, with Juventus fifth on 75.
Napoli made a strong start as Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano was forced to palm away a Piotr Zielinski strike before smothering Fabian Ruiz’s follow-up.
Fiorentina then had Dusan Vlahovic’s headed goal disallowed for offside.
Napoli got their lead 11 minutes into the second half after they were awarded a penalty for Nikola Milenkovic’s pull on Amir Rrahmani’s shirt on a corner.
Lorenzo Insigne’s penalty was initially saved by Terracciano buy the Napoli captain tapped home the rebound.
Napoli finally got the ‘insurance goal’ in the 67th minute as Osimhen’s cross was knocked down by Insigne for Zielinski, whose shot took a massive deflection off Fiorentina’s Lorenzo Venuti.
Osimhen has scored 10 goals and made three assists in 23 Serie A appearances for Napoli this season.
