KWARA: EFCC arrests ex-gov, Abdulfatah Ahmed, over N9bn alleged graft

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the immediate past Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed.

He is currently being grilled by the EFCC officers over alleged N9bn graft committed while he was in office.

EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that the Ahmed responded to invitation by the Commission but declined to comment further I=on the nature of the invitation.

However, sources in the Kwara government circuit said the EFCC invitation was in connection to financial infractions believed to have been diverted from the state’s cover when he was commissioner for finance in the then Governor Bukola Saraki’s administration as well as during his tenure as governor between 2011 and 2019.

This is the second time Ahmed will be invited by the commission since he left office ias governor. The first was in December 2020.
