LILLE claimed victory at Angers on Sunday night to hold off Paris St-Germain and win their fourth ever Ligue 1 title on Sunday night, one point ahead of the former champions.
Jonathan David scored an early goal and Burak Yılmaz increased Lille’s lead from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time.
Angers’ Angelo Fulgini pulled one back late on but it was not enough to spoil Lille’s victory party and their first Ligue 1 title since 2011.
PSG defeated Brest 2-0 away also on Sunday, but failed to win the French league title for only the second time in nine years.
Monaco, who drew 0-0 with Lens, snatched France’s third and final UEFA Champions League spot after Lyon lost 3-2 to Nice.
Lyon will be in next season’s UEFA Europa League while Marseille and Rennes qualify for the new Europa Conference League.
Nantes, the club of Super Eagles forward Simon Moses, were condemned to a relegation play-off with Toulouse after losing 2-1 at home to Montpellier.
