Ndidi hints at Leicester stay, vows Foxes ‘will come back stronger’

SUPER Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi says Leicester City will bounce back from the disappointing end to the season, indicating that he will be there to lead the fight.

The Nigeria international has been the subject of intense speculation linking him with moves to bigger clubs after four-and-a-half excellent seasons at Leicester City.

He was in the line-up on Sunday as they blew a 2-1 lead to lose 4-2 at home to Tottenham Hotspur and settle for a place in the UEFA Europa League.

Jamie Vardy scored two penalties for Leicester City but a goal from Premier League top scorer Harry Kane, an own goal by goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and a brace from Gareth Bale left the Foxes finishing in fifth place, one point off fourth and the Champions League.

“Unfortunately we didn’t hit our target but we come back stronger next season,” Ndidi tweeted on Monday.

“Oh yeah we made history.”
There were around 10,000 Leicester fans at the King Power Stadium on Sunday for the first time this season as the government eased coronavirus restrictions.

Ndidi was happy to have the noise and atmosphere back.

He added: “Thank you all for your support throughout the season, it was amazing seeing most of you at the stadium.”

Ndidi, 24, recently extended his Leicester City contract to 2024 but that has not stopped him from being linked to Manchester United and big clubs outside of England.

He played 36 matches for Leicester City in all competitions in the 2020/2021 season and led in tackles and interceptions in the entire Premier League.
