INTER Milan have replaced Antonio Conte with Simone Inzaghi, the club announced on Thursday.

Conte left the club in May after leading them to their first Serie A title in 11 years. The former Chelsea manager fell out with the Inter Milan hierarchy reportedly over transfer plans.

Inzaghi has now left Lazio to team up with the Italian champions.

“FC Internazionale Milano would like to welcome Simone Inzaghi to the Club, as our new First Team Coach: the Italian manager has signed a two-year deal with the Nerazzurri,” Inter Milan stated on their official website.

Inzaghi, the younger brother of Italy great Filippo, began his coaching career in the 2010/11 season as part of Lazio’s youth set-up, months after retiring from active football.

He became the first team’s head coach in April 2016 with just seven games left in the season. He coached Lazio for another five seasons, winning the Coppa Italia in 2019 and two Supercoppa titles (2017 and 2019). He also brought Champions League football back to the Rome club with a fourth-place finish in 2020.

Inzaghi, 45, had a playing career that spanned Lazio, Sampdoria and Atalanta among others. The former striker had three Italy caps.
