* We have earned the trust of our customers – Adeolu Adewumi-Zer, MD/CEO
ALLIANZ Nigeria Insurance Limited, a member of the Allianz Global, is ready to do business for a long time to come in Nigeria. This was what their trip to Abuja recently sought to establish.
On June 2, 2021, Allianz Nigeria leadership team paid 3-day visit to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in pursuance of their drive to maintain dominance in the insurance industry and reassure their Abuja customers and clients of their business promise.
The trip comprised of Mrs Adeolu Adewumi-Zer, MD/CEO, a global strategist and transformation leader, who has held key executive positions in the Allianz Group across three different continents. Along with her were the Chief Customer Officer, Mr Oyetunji Oshiyoye; the Chief Technical Officer, Mr Jaideep Goel; Acting Chief Finance Officer, Mr Oludotun Olowonyo; Chief Technical Officer represented by Mr Oladipo Odunuga and the Chief People Officer and Company Secretary, Mrs Abimbola Alabi.
The visit was very timely in providing reassurance to clients and other stakeholders following the recent acquisition by the global brand of Ensure Insurance Plc.
The activities commenced by a formal introductory visit by the company’s leadership team including the Chairman, Chief Dickie Ulu, a 33 year- insurance and reinsurance expert to NAICOM (National Insurance Commission).
On the second day, there was a market storm organised by the Allianz sales team, headed by the MD/CEO herself as storm lead. Across the length and breadth of Aminu Kano Street, she and the 40-man team, spoke to commuters, residents and businesses, about the importance of insurance and why Allianz Nigeria Insurance was a trusted insurer.
Later that day, Adeolu Adewumi-Zer visited Classic FM, 94.3 Abuja for a media chat with Faith-Dafe Joseph on the business lounge. The interview focused on the way forward for the Nigerian insurance industry and the Allianz promise to gain the trust of their customers by responding to claims speedily and delivering quality service following the Allianz global model.
The team rounded up the day’s efforts with fun and games at a hang out session with the CEO. This proved the organisation’s mantra of being an employer of choice.
On the third day, Adeolu Adewumi-Zer, the self-described Afro-Optimist at an online webinar, spoke about the competitive collaboration with Tiekie Barnard and Vuyo Lutseke of the Shared Value Africa Initiative, discussing how CEOs in Africa can drive development and growth through collective collaboration.
As the day dawned, the Allianz team hosted key stakeholders, brokers and clients to a private dinner to reassure them of its commitment to all their stakeholders across Nigeria and not just Lagos.
“There are a lot of potentials in Abuja,” said Adewumi-Zer. “Abuja needs to also enjoy the valuable services that are available at Allianz. We care about the people of Abuja”.
While responding to declined trust in the insurance industry and low purchasing power of Nigerians, resulting in the exclusion of the majority, she said, “We have earned the trust of our customers in 70 other countries, I’m sure we can earn the trust of Nigerians. In terms of the low income in Nigeria, the industry needs to work together to address the fact that the people who need insurance most are unable to afford it.”
