THE Police today shot teargas to disperse protesters in the Gudu area of Abuja as the country marks the June 12 Democracy Day.
The protesters had earlier blocked the Gudu Junction to protest against the state of the nation.
Similar protests are being held across the country today being Democracy Day as declared last year by President Buhari.
The Unity Fountain in Abuja, which is a popular venue for protests in the nation’s capital, had been cordoned off to prevent the protesters from gathering there as at 8:15am.
However, at the Millennium Park just opposite the fountain, a few individuals wearing branded T-shirts with the inscription ‘I Stand With Buhari’ had pooled together.
They later embarked on a road walk to mark the Day.
Meanwhile, security operatives have barricaded the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos, where some residents had planned to stage a protest.
An Armoured Personnel Carrier is stationed at the entrance of the park while armed officers have mounted strategic places around the place.
