Super Eagles friendly vs Mexico to be shown live on DStv, GOtv

THE friendly match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Mexico’s El Tricolor will be broadcast live on DStv and its sister cable service GOtv, it has been confirmed.

The match is scheduled for 8pm on Saturday night in Los Angeles, California (4am Sunday morning Nigerian time).

The encounter will be aired live on SuperSport Premier League (DStv channel 203) and SuperSport Nigeria pop-up channel (GOtv channel 35) from 3.30am Sunday.

The Nigerian team arrived in the United States of America on Thursday with 22 players, all of them based at home with Nigeria Professional Football League clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur U-23s goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi joined them from England to cover for Ikechukwu Ezenwa who picked up a late injury and could not make the trip.

Mexico are using the match at the iconic LA Coliseum to prepare for their defence of their CONCACAF Gold Cup title as the tournament begins on 10 July.

Although the Europe-based players are not in the Super Eagles squad for this match, the team will use it as part of their tune-up for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers which start in September.

The NPFL players will also have the opportunity to showcase their abilities and fight for spots in the squad when the Europe-based players are available.

Nigeria and Mexico have met five times at senior level previously, with the latter winning once, while the four other clashes have ended in draws.
