NIGERIA Professional Football League heavyweights Kano Pillars, Rivers United and Plateau United will be in action on Wednesday as the AITEO Cup (Nigeria’s FA Cup) reaches the round of 16.
Plateau United will face in-form Nasarawa United in Lokoja in one of the two all-NPFL clashes in the round.
NPFL champions Plateau United saw off Jigawa Golden Stars in the round of 32, while Nasarawa United eliminated Nigeria National League side Bendel Insurance.
Kaduna will host a northern derby between NPFL side Katsina United and second-tier Gombe United, while Heartland and Rivers United will do battle in another all-NPFL clash in Aba.
Rivers United beat Sokoto United in the round of 32 while Heartland ended Ekiti United’s run in the competition.
Abuja will host the clash between giant killers Green Beret FC, who eliminated NPFL side Warri Wolves, and top flight strugglers Sunshine Stars.
In Makurdi, Abia Warriors will be up against Niger Tornadoes while Lobi Stars confront Bayelsa United at Owerri’s Dan Anyiam Stadium.
At the Nnamzi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, Wikki Tourists of Bauchi battle Gateway of Abeokuta, while in Minna, Kano Pillars have to fend off Kebbi United, who sent Kwara United packing in the round of 32.
All the matches are scheduled to kick off at 3pm.
