SUPER Eagles striker Victor Osimhen made the difference on Saturday when Napoli defeated Pro Vercelli in a pre-season friendly.
The Nigeria international scored the only goal for the Serie A club in the 1-0 win against their third-tier opponents.
Osimhen, who scored 10 goals in 30 appearances in his first campaign with Napoli last season, headed in the winner to give his side their second win in two pre-season games.
The win was however marred by a first-half injury to Diego Demme who hurt his knee and was replaced by another Nigerian Michael Folorunsho.
Demme was carried off by medical staff after a rough tackle left him with a right knee injury and will require tests.
Osimhen injected some sunshine into the Napoli gloom after Demme’s injury, heading home after Mario Rui’s corner was diverted to his path by Amir Rrahmani in the first half.
The former Lille striker could have had another goal and an assist but Zedadka hit the woodwork when sent clean through by the Nigerian.
Osimhen himself then somehow missed an open goal in the second half.
The Super Eagles star received some rough treatment from the Vercelli defenders and he exchanged words with some of them before going off in the 62nd minute.
Osimhen has now scored five goals in two pre-season friendlies after putting four past Bassa Anaunia in a 12-0 demolition five days ago.
