SUPER Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru has expressed his excitement at joining Olympiacos of Greece.

The Nigeria international officially signed for the Greek champions on a four-year contract from Monaco.

The move cost Olympiacos around €4.5m
“Happy to announce that I have joined @Olympiacosfc,” the 24-year-old wrote on Twitter on Monday after completing the deal.

“I look forward to this new league and new challenge and new home! May God guide and protect this new journey, I can’t wait to get started! #WeKeepOnDreaming #Olympiacos.”

Onyekuru was announced to Olympiacos fans in an official statement on the club’s website on Monday, with his name spelt the Greek way.

“Olympiacos FC announces the acquisition of international ace, Henry Tsoukvouemeka Oniekourou,” the club wrote.

“The Nigerian, born on June 5, 1997 in Lagos, was acquired from Monaco while signing a four-year contract.”

After five years at the Aspire Academy in Senegal, Onyekuru made his first professional move in 2015 when he joined Belgian club Eupen.

The skillful forward scored 30 goals in 60 games before making the switch to Everton for €8m in 2017.

The English club however loaned him out to Anderlecht and Galatasaray as he could not secure a British work permit.

He joined Monaco in August 2019 for €13.5m but struggled to settle at the French club, playing only eight games for them as he got loaned out to Galatasaray in January 2020 and again in January 2021.

Onyekuru was linked with a permanent move to Galatasaray but has opted for Olympiacos who showed more interest in his services.
