MOHAMED Salah emerged as the star on Saturday evening as Liverpool beat Norwich 3-0 at Carrow Road.
The Egyptian scored one of the goals and assisted the other, making it the fifth consecutive opening weekend he has scored in the Premier League.
Salah thus becomes the first player in Premier League history to score so consistently on opening weekends as he added to his strikes in 2017/2018 (against Watford), 2018/2019 (against West Ham), 2019/2020 (against Norwich) and 2020/2021 against Leeds United.
On Saturday, he set up Liverpool’s first goal for Diogo Jota in the 26th minute as the first half ended 1-0 Liverpool’s favour.
Hosts Norwich City, who returned to the Premier League this season from the Championship, were competitive up until 20 minutes into the second half.
Salah once again was the provider of the second Liverpool strike, setting up substitute Roberto Firmino in the 65th minute to knock the stuffing out of the Canaries.
The Egypt forward then capped a man-of-the-match performance with the historic goal, netting in the 74th minute as Liverpool eased to the three points.
With the victory, the Reds joined Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton and Leicester City as the early pacesetters in the brand-new Premier League season.
