NIGERIA midfielder Frank Onyeka had a solid outing in midfield on Saturday as Brentford kept a second consecutive Premier League clean sheet.
The promoted side had beaten Arsenal in the league’s opening match on 13 August and followed it up with a gutsy 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Onyeka was brilliant in defensive midfield until his substitution in the 70th minute as the Bees went up to third in the table.
At Elland Road, Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi was lively on the right for Everton as they played a 2-2 draw at Leeds United.
Iwobi was replaced by Andros Townsend in the 75th minute and no further goals were scored after his substitution.
Everton took the lead twice through Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Demarai Gray, but they were hauled back each time with goals from Mateusz Klich and Raphinha.
Champions Manchester City bounced back from last week’s opening defeat at Tottenham Hotspur with a brutal 5-0 beating of newcomers Norwich City at the Etihad Stadium.
New record signing Jack Grealish, Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez netted for Pep Guardiola’s side after a Tim Krul own goal had given them an early lead.
In the Premier League fixture on Saturday afternoon, Aston Villa defeated Newcastle United 2-0 at Villa Park with goals from Danny Ings and Anwar El-Ghazi.
