CRISTIANO Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United has been agreed, the club have announced.

The 36-year-old was widely reported to be on his way to Manchester City on Thursday but he is now returning to a different club in the same city.

“Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical,” the club announced on their official website on Friday.

“Cristiano, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career, including five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal.”

Ronaldo first joined United in 2003 and spent six years there, scoring 118 goals in 292 games, while also winning his first Ballon d’Or in 2008.

He won three back-to-back Premier League titles with the club in 2007, 2008 and 2009, as well as the UEFA Champions League in 2008.

“Everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester,” the club added.

The two-year deal is believed to be worth €25m in transfer fees to Juventus and annual wages of around £25m.
