ARSENAL lost their third straight Premier League fixture 5-0 on Saturday to Manchester City at the Etihad, making it their worst start to a league season in 66 years.

Ilkay Gundogan, Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus and Rodri all netted as City eased to victory.

Arsenal were the better side in the first five minutes, but Germany midfielder Gundogan started the rout for City in the seventh minute, heading home from close range off a brilliant ball in from Jesus.

Torres doubled Manchester City’s lead five minutes later, finishing off a set-piece delivery that Arsenal failed to clear.

Things got from bad to worse when Granit Xhaka was sent off for a mistimed lunge in the 35th minute.

With the dismissal, no player has received more red cards (four) than Xhaka since making his Premier League debut for Arsenal at the start of the 2016/17 season.

City took full advantage of Arsenal’s reduction to 10 men, making it 3-0 in the 43rd minute as Jesus swept the ball home from inside the Gunners’ box.

Arsenal hardly had time to settle down into the second half when City got their fourth goal, Rodri side-footing the ball into the net from 20 yards out in the 53rd minute.

City then went into cruise control, just tossing the ball around as Arsenal chased shadows.

They still added a fifth goal with six minutes left on the clock, Torres scoring his second with a header off Riyad Mahrez’s cross.

It could have been much worse if not for substitute Raheem Sterling’s several misses, including when he was one on one with Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd
Leno.

Arsenal are now rock bottom of the Premier League table with 0 points, no goals scored and nine conceded in there matches.

The Gunners have lost their first three league matches in a season for the first time since the 1954-55 campaign, while Manchester City are the third team in Premier League history to score 10 goals in their first two home matches in a season, after Arsenal in 2010-11 (10) and Manchester United in 2011-12 (11)
