OGHENEKARO Etebo has admitted that he was disappointed with Watford’s 2-0 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Super Eagles midfielder was one of the few Watford players who had a decent game, but his effort was not enough to prevent the Hornets’ second defeat in four matches and Wolves’ first win of the league campaign.

“To be honest, it was really disappointing, but it’s football,” Etebo, who was substituted off in the 77th minute after receiving an early yellow card, told Watford’s official channel.

“We had a great game. We conceded what I don’t want to call a cheap goal but it’s an own goal.”

The Nigeria international, who is on loan from Stoke City, is already thinking about Watford’s next fixture, away to Norwich City.

“I was thinking we were going to win the game because everyone was pushing, everyone was working hard, but it’s football,” he added.

“It’s happened, we lost and we look forward to the next game.”

Although Etebo did not fault his teammates’ output during the game, he agreed that Wolves created more chances, and Watford should not repeat their mistakes.

“Yeah, when you play in front of your home fans, it’s best to make sure you put in your best and get a point even if you don’t get the win,” he noted.

“Anyway, like I said to the lads, it has happened, we just need to learn from our mistakes and go for the next game.”

Since winning their opening Premier League fixture, promoted Watford have lost their last three matches and are 15th in the table with three points.
