Morocco, Ghana, Mali arrive, train in Lagos for Aisha Buhari Cup

THE teams that will participate in the Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Tournament are in the final legs of their preparations for the event.

The tournament will start in Lagos on Wednesday, with six top women’s national teams from Africa taking part.

Hosts and African champions Nigeria will be joined by Ghana, Cameroon, South Africa, Mali and Morocco.

The Atlas Lionesses of Morocco were the first team to land in Lagos on Monday morning, and they trained later in the day at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere.

The Moroccan ladies, who will face the Super Falcons in the opening match on Wednesday, were supervised at the training session by head coach Reynald Pedro’s.

The Mali contingent also arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Monday, before being driven to their base in the city.

The Black Queens of Ghana also landed in Lagos on Monday, while Cameroon’s overseas-based players are also in town.

The Aisha Buhari Cup will be held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Lagos Island and the Agege Stadium on the mainland from Wednesday to Tuesday next week.
