Europa League: Osimhen bags brace, Ndidi sent off in Leicester vs Napoli, Onuachu scores

NIGERIAN players were heavily involved at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night when Leicester City and Napoli drew 2-2 in their UEFA Europa League Group C clash.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored twice in the second half as the Italian side came back from 2-0 down, while his compatriot Wilfred Ndidi was sent off in added time.

Ayoze Perez gave Leicester City the lead with a volley in the ninth minute and Harvey Barnes made it 2-0 in the 64th minute, with Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho assisting the goal.

Osimhen made it 2-1 on 69 minutes with a sublime touch past Kasper Schmeichel, before his header made it 2-2 in the 87th minute.

Ndidi was dismissed in the third minute of added time after he was issued with a second yellow card for shirt pulling.

In Group H, Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu netted an injury-time winner to give Genk a 1-0 win away to Rapid Wien that pulled them level on points with West Ham, who who won 2-0 at Dinamo Zagreb.

In Group E, Nigerian midfielder Ubong Ukpai played the full game while his compatriot Peter Olayinka was an unused substitute as Slavia Prague defeated Union Berlin 3-1 in Prague.

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi played 59 minutes for Union Berlin and was cautioned during the game.

In Group A, both Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo were in the losing team as Rangers were beaten 2-0 at home by Lyon.
Centre-back Balogun played the full game but midfielder Aribo was taken off in the 76th minute for Zambia forward Fashion Sinkala.

In Group D, Super Eagles wide man Henry Onyekuru played for 81 minutes to help Olympiacos to a 2-1 home win over Royal Antwerp.

In other Europa League fixtures on Thursday night, home side Real Betis defeated Celtic 4-3, Galatasaray beat visitors Lazio 1-0, while PSV Eindhoven and Real Sociedad drew 2-2.
