SUPER Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo will not play football for the next four to five months, according to his club.
Watford announced on Thursday that the Nigeria international tore a muscle towards the end of the Premier League fixture against Newcastle United last weekend.
“We can confirm Peter Etebo is expected to be out for between four to five months with a torn quad muscle,” Watford tweeted on Thursday.
“Best of luck in your recovery, @etebo_karo! “
He will not return to action until January at the earliest and possibly as late as February.
Etebo joined Premier League newcomers Watford on a one-season loan deal from Stoke City in August and has been involved in all the Hornets’ seven matches in all competitions this season.
He started five of Watford’s six Premier League games, including last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle United in which he lasted just 15 minutes.
The 25-year-old was left out of Nigeria’s Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic in October due to the injury.
Watford also announced that another midfielder Tom Cleverley suffered from concussion on Saturday but will be available for the away clash against Leeds United this weekend.
