VICTOR Osimhen was once again on the scoresheet on Thursday but this time he could not help Napoli secure a positive result.

The Nigeria international scored his seventh goal in seven games to continue his remarkable run, but Napoli were beaten at home 3-2 by Spartak Moscow in their UEFA Europa League group phase clash.

Osimhen, who was brought on at the start of the second half, scored Napoli’s second goal in injury time after both sides had been reduced to 10 men at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Osimhen’s compatriot and former Super Eagles star Victor Moses played the full game for Spartak Moscow in a right wing-back role as they handed Napoli their first defeat of the season in all competitions.

In other Europa League ties involving Nigerian players on Thursday night, Leicester City, Genk and Rangers all lost.

Although Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi (suspension) and Kelechi Iheanacho (no entry into Poland) were not available for the clash in Poland against Legia Warsaw, Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman was a late substitute as Leicester City sought to get back in the game.

The Polish side however held on to win 1-0 to go top of the group with six points, with Spartak Moscow second on three points.

Napoli and Leicester City have one point each.

In the Czech Republic, Rangers had three Nigerians in their starting line-up as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Sparta Prague.

New Super Eagles call-up Calvin Bassey played in central defence along with Leon Balogun, while Joe Aribo started further up the pitch.

However, Aribo was substituted off in the 77th minute for John Lundstram while Bassey and Balogun completed the game for 10-man Rangers, who had Glen Kamara sent off.

The defeat means Rangers are bottom of Group A with no points after losing their first two games.

In Belgium, Paul Onuachu drew blanks as 10-man Genk were beaten 3-0 at home by Dinamo Zagreb in a Group H encounter.

Super Eagles striker Onuachu, who is Genk’s top scorer this season with 11 goals in 13 appearances, made way for England-born Nigerian Ike Ugbo in the 76th minute.

In Turkey, Henry Onyekuru got the better of Bright Osayi-Samuel as visitors Olympiacos beat Fenerbahce 3-0 in Istanbul.

Super Eagles forward Onyekuru was on from the start for Olympiacos and featured for 63 minutes before being replaced by Pierre Kunde, while Osayi-Samuel played the full game for Fenerbahce.

Olympiacos lead Group D with six points while Fenerbahce are third with one.
