THE Super Eagles have arrived in Douala, Cameroon for Sunday’s Qatar 2022  World Cup qualifier against Les Fauves of the Central African Republic.

The Nigerian contingent landed at the Aeroport Internationale in Douala at 11.28am on Saturday, according to the Nigeria Football Federation. The contingent of 23 players, team officials and administrators was led by NFF Vice President and Chairman of the League Management Company, Shehu Dikko.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to train at the Stade Japoma de Douala (venue of Sunday’s game) on Saturday afternoon as they seek to quickly make amends for Thursday’s shock defeat to the Central Africans.

Captain Ahmed Musa, who would reach a milestone 100th cap for Nigeria if he plays on Sunday, is more concerned about the Super Eagles taking all three points in the African qualifying matchday 4 encounter.

“I’m happy that I am about to win my 100th cap, which definitely is a thing of joy and pride for any football player at international level,” the Fatih Karagumuruk star said.

“However, I am more concerned about the three points. The three points here have become much more precious due to what happened in the first leg which we lost. The individual honour is welcome but I am more concerned about collective glory and our country’s pride.”

The Super Eagles need to win in Douala not just to restore some of their battered pride following the Lagos defeat, but also to keep their position at the top of the African qualifying Group C table.

Gernot Rohr’s men lead the group with six points from three matches, with Cape Verde and Central African Republic two points adrift, while Liberia have three points.
