PATSON Daka was the hero for Leicester City in their 4-3 away win over Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday.

The Zambia international striker scored all of Leicester City’s four goals, while Nigerian stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Moses also made goal contributions.

Super Eagles forward Iheanacho assisted two of Daka’s goals, while Moses also set up two of Spartak Moscow’s three goals in a goalfest in Russia.

Hosts Spartak Moscow opened the floodgates of goals in the 11th minute through Alexander Sobolev’s deflected strike.

The Russians made it 2-0 through Jordan Larsson one minute before the break, with retired Nigeria international Moses assisting with a brilliant ball into the Leicester City box.The English club cut the deficit before half-time as Iheanacho fed Daka for a neat finish from close range.

Remarkably, Leicester City were level three minutes after the break, Iheanacho again setting up Daka.

The Chipolopolo star completed his hat-trick in the 54th minute and made it 4-2 with 11 minutes left on the clock.

Daka wrote his name into the history books with his performance, becoming the first Zambian international to score a hat-trick in men’s UEFA club competition, excluding qualifiers.

Moses grabbed his second assist of the game in the 86th minute, setting up Sobolev again as Spartak Moscow sought to rescue a point.

Leicester City moved up to second place in Group C with four points, one ahead of Spartak Moscow.

Polish side Legia Warsaw lead the group with six points and they face bottom side Napoli on Thursday.
