MOHAMED Salah became the all-time Liverpool top scorer in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night when they defeated Atletico Madrid in Spain.

The Egyptian scored twice in Liverpool’s dramatic 3-2 win to take his record in the competition to 31 goals, more than any player from the club in Champions League history.

Salah also became the first player in Liverpool’s history to score in nine consecutive matches with his brace against the Spaniards, who had their own brace hero Antoine Griezmann sent off early in the second half for dangerous play.

Salah gave Liverpool an early lead and Naby Keita made it 2-0 within 13 minutes, but Griezmann’s double pegged the visitors back before half-time.

The Egypt forward then scored a late penalty to give Liverpool the three points as they maintained top spot in Group B with nine points from three matches.

Atletico are second with four points. Porto, who beat AC Milan 1-0 also on Tuesday night, are third with four points, behind Atletico on goal difference, while Milan are pointless.

In Group C, Ajax thrashed Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in Amsterdam to retain top spot with nine points from three matches, with the Germans second on six points.

A Marco Reus own goal as well as strikes from Daley Blind, Antony and Sebastien Haller sealed the big win for Dortmund.

In Group A, Lionel Messi scored twice, the second with a cheeky Panenka penalty, as Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to beat Club Brugge 3-2 in Paris.

Kylian Mbappe shot the hosts into the lead early on, but Andre Silva and Nordi Mukiele scored to turn it around for the German side.

However, Messi intervened with his two goals and Mbappe even missed an injury-time penalty as PSG stayed on top of the group with seven points, one more than Manchester City who had beaten Club Brugge 5-1 earlier in the evening.

Club Brugge have four points while Leipzig are yet to register a point.

In Group D, Real Madrid pounded Shakhtar Donetsk 5-0 in Kyiv, Ukraine, while Inter Milan defeated giant killers Sheriff Tiraspol 3-1 in Italy.

Real Madrid, who scored through Vinicius Junior (two goals), Rodrygo and Karim Benzema, moved level on six points with Sheriff Tiraspol.

The Moldovan first timers are ahead on head to head having beaten Real Madrid when they met.

Edin Dzeko, Arturo Vidal and Stefan de Vrij netted for Inter Milan as they took their points tally to four. Shakhtar have one point.
