NIGERIA digital currency app, eNaira’s speed wallet, has been removed from the Google Playstore barely 48 hours after the app was launched by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The digital currency was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

As at Wednesday evening, the disappearance of the app was noticed when some Nigerians attempted to download the new product but couldn’t find it.

Although, there are indications that the app has been upgraded to meet new requirements after a number of negative reviews had flooded the comment section.

The iOS version of the app is still be accessible on the Apple App Store.

Some Nigerians have however expressed their disappointment over the removal of the app on Google Playstore, condemning the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for releasing a “premature product” into the market.

It should be noted that over 100,000 downloads of the eNaira app had been recorded with thousands complaints received since the launch.
