NIGERIAN midfielder Raphael Onyedika posted a man-of-the-match performance on Sunday to steer FC Midtjylland to victory in the Danish top flight.

Onyedika scored twice and assisted the other goal to give his side victory against Randers.

The Nigerian nearly gave visitors Midtjylland the lead after 14 minutes but his shot went wide.

He soon made amends, firing his side ahead with a superb hit.

Midtjylland continued to be dominant and Onyedika completed his brace in the 37th minute by smartly finishing off Joel Andersson’s ball from an acute angle.

Randers were back in the contest eight minutes into the second half, with Onyedika’s compatriot Stephen Odey reducing the arrears with his 11th goal of the season.

Onyedika was involved again as Midtjylland restored their two-goal advantage in the 65th minute.

A mistake in the Randers defence let the Nigerian through on goal and he unselfishly squared the ball to Evander who rolled it into an empty net.

Onyedika, 20, has now scored three goals from central midfield in 22 appearances in all competitions for Midtjylland this season.

Odey, on the other hand, has scored 11 goals in 13 appearances for Randers across competitions this season.

The 23-year-old former MFM striker is on loan at Randers from Belgium’s KRC Genk.
