AFTER what may be considered as seven years hiatus, Akwa Ibom-born gospel artiste, Victor Ekpo, aka SirVic, is back with an Extended Playlist (EP) dubbed #TakeOver 1.0, a gospel record that resonates for its liveliness.

The four-track project, which has a fine blend of Afro-pop, Ghanaian hi-life and Caribbean music, features fellow Port Harcourt-based vocalists, Obinna Nwosu on Jesus Hold Me and Joyful, as well as other notable gospel acts in the Garden city, such as, God No go Shame Us crooner, Prinx Emmanuel. Another standout track on the EP is Get Your Praise On.

SirVic started out his career in 2003 as a singer and instrumentalist, before transitioning into rap music songs like Make it Shine and Some times. 10 years later, precisely 2013, he dished out two more songs, featuring legendary worship leader Afy Douglas in one.

Emphasizing his passion and resilience for music, the gospel lyricist said, “I can do anything for music. I remember selling my mobile phones to buy beats I never got to use, at different times.”

“I have written more than 300 songs that are not yet published for diverse reasons. But I’m not fazed over those issues. When I’m ready, you’ll see what will come out,” he added.

With the currently receiving massive airplay across radio stations in the country, particularly in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Uyo, and few disc jockeys (DJs) in the United States also giving it rotational play, the rapper hopes to explore more of his musical mastery which has been hidden “in the trenches for years” with this new project.
