MOTORISTS and commuters plying the Ibadan-Lagos expressway yesterday, Sunday November 28, were thrown into deep frustrations as they were locked down in gridlock that kept them on the road for hours.
A motorist returning from Abeokuta via the Sagamu link bridge reported that he got to the he left Abeokuta by 5pm, and was still stuck at Mowe town by 11pm!
“It is 11pm, and I am yet to escape the gridlock,” he lamented to Naija Times.
“Construction on the Expressway causing multiple diversions is responsible for the madness,” said the motorist, adding,
“Commuters, men, women and children carrying their wares and trekking the distance using the sidewalk.”
He feared that such gridlock has security implications as criminals could take advantage of the chaos to unleash mayhem on innocent people.
Though he put the reason for the gridlock on the road repairs works that have been ongoing for a long time, he expressed frustration that no adequate provision seemed to have been made by the authorities concerned to ease the problems created by the repairs.
