GOVERNOR of Ekiti State and chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi, says a national dialogue is one of the solutions to addressing the various agitations in the country.
The governor, who spoke yesterday at the Distinguished Lecture organised by the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Victoria Island, Lagos, said restructuring would allow for greater decentralisation and devolution of powers.
“The discontent and agitations that are being felt in parts of the country are sympathetic to structural challenges that can be discussed and amicably agreed upon when all constituents units of the federation come together to discuss and agree on what the Nigeria of their dreams means,” he said.
Fayemi, who admonished Nigerians to avoid conflict and embrace peaceful coexistence, said addressing the national question would ensure that Nigeria was on a path to greatness and generate the sense of unity of purpose required for her to attain her best potential.
