THE Nigeria Football Federation is planning to re-introduce the Code of Conduct for the senior national teams that will guide the players of Super Eagles and Super Falcons while on national assignments.
The Super Eagles once had a code of conduct that was shelved after some controversy, but recent acts of indiscipline appear to have triggered a need for its return.
An NFF source disclosed that the body will instruct their legal department to produce a document that will set the standard for the conduct of players on national team assignments without infringing on their rights.
“The Code will outline how players’ complaints and grievances are to be addressed and resolved while setting the standard for the conduct of players, coaches and the officials when on international assignments,” the source said.
“All players (both men and women) invited to the national team for any international competition will be sent the Code of Conduct document along with their invitation letters which they will be advised to peruse with their lawyers or representatives before honouring the call-ups.
This is to make them aware of the conduct required of them and also ensure their rights are not infringed upon. It is meant to enforce discipline and adherence to the rules.
“It is a global practice. The players are used to it in their clubs and many national teams also have such guidelines in place so we are re-introducing same.”
Recently, Super Eagles players were alleged to have had an all-night party on the eve of a World Cup qualifier.
