ENYIMBA claimed their second consecutive win in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday by defeating their hosts Enugu Rangers 1-0 in Nnewi.

The Aba Elephant, now handled by former Super Eagles winger Finidi George, claimed the only away win in the NPFL on Boxing Day Sunday.

Enyimba left it late before sealing the win over their South Eastern rivals, with Emeka Obioma scoring in the 88th minute.

The Aba-based side are yet to lose under Finidi, who joined them at the beginning of this season, going unbeaten in five games in all competitions.

Promoted Remo Stars kept up with Enyimba by also winning their second NPFL game of the season, overcoming Heartland 3-0 in Remo.

Andy Okpe scored twice for the side handled by the much-travelled Gbenga Ogunbote.

In Ibadan, hosts Shooting Stars Sports Club needed a last-gasp equaliser to rescue a point against champions Akwa United in a 1-1 draw.

Akwa United took the lead midway into the second half through Utibe Archibong but Ayo Adejubu struck in added time to spare 3SC’s blushes at the newly refurbished Lekan Salami Stadium.

In Jos, hosts Plateau United scraped a 1-0 win over Kwara United, with Mohammed Zulkifilu netting the only goal.

In other NPFL fixtures on Sunday, Rivers United trounced Katsina United 3-0 in Port Harcourt, Kano Pillars were held to a 0-0 draw by Lobi Stars in Kaduna, Abia Warriors saw off Sunshine Stars 1-0, and Wikki Tourists defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0.
