LIVERPOOL have confirmed the acquisition of Luis Diaz from FC Porto of Portugal.
The deal for the Colombia forward was completed on Sunday, with Diaz signing the papers in Argentina, where he is currently on international duty.
“Liverpool Football Club have completed the signing of Luis Diaz from FC Porto, subject to the successful granting of a work permit and international clearance,” the English club announced on Sunday.
“The 25-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the Reds after passing a medical and finalising personal terms.
“Diaz will arrive on Merseyside once he has completed international duty with Colombia, who face Argentina in a World Cup qualifier in Cordoba on Tuesday evening.”
The transfer fee is believed to be €60m in total — an initial €40m and €20m in add-ons — and is until June 2027.
Diaz, who featured against Liverpool twice in this season’s UEFA Champions League, has been in explosive form this term, contributing 14 goals and five assists in 18 league appearances for Porto, who are on top of Portugal’s Primeira Liga.
He is joining the Reds after two-and-a-half seasons with Porto, where he made 125 appearances and scored 41 goals.
He will wear the No.23 shirt as he bolsters an attack that already boasts Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota.
