AFRICA’S telecom giant, MTN, is undergoing a major rebranding and repositioning that will begin on February 27.
MTN’s logo will be refreshed and simplified, and its “Everywhere You Go” tagline will be changed to “Yello.”
According to MTN, the new logo features ‘MTN’ written in normal block letters and in blue, surrounded by an oval of the same color, with a yellow background that appears to be a lighter shade of yellow than the previous logo.
Nompilo Morafo, MTN’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, said the new look is in line with the company’s transition from a telecommunications to a technology company.
“Our commitment and focus to accelerate Africa’s progress sees MTN revealing a refreshed brand identity and campaign from February 27,” Morafo said.
The new logo, which can be seen outside MTN’s offices near the 14th Avenue Offramp to the N1 Freeway in Johannesburg, has been submitted to the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) for approval.
MTN also stated that the rebrand will be implemented across the Group, not just at the company’s headquarters at Johannesburg .
