ASISAT Oshoala will miss Wednesday’s second leg Women’s Africa Cup of Nations clash against Cote d’Ivoire in Abidjan due to injury.
The Super Falcons captain also missed the first leg on Friday after getting injured in training in Abuja. Without her, the Super Falcons defeated the Ivorians 2-0 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, with he replacement Ifeoma Onumonu scoring both goals.
Oshoala, who did not fly out to Abidjan with the national team on Sunday, is believed to have injured her left thigh and the initial prognosis is that she could be out for up to 10 weeks.
The 27-year-old African Women’s Player of the Year recently reached the 100-game milestone for Barcelona Femeni, which she marked with her 79th goal for the Spanish giants.
Oshoala has been in superb form this season for Barcelona, scoring 19 goals in 16 Spanish top flight appearances despite her injury problems.
The latest injury is Oshoala’s second this season following the first one in November when she ruptured the posterior cruciate ligament in her right knee in the UEFA Women’s Champions League encounter against Hoffenheim.
The Nigeria international, who helped Barcelona win the first UEFA Women’s Champions League title last season, will miss the quarter-final against rivals Real Madrid in March.
