CHELSEA scored four goals in 22 second-half minutes on Saturday as they eased to a 4-0 victory in their first Premier League game since owner Roman Abramovich announced his intention to sell the club.
Thomas Tuchel’s side were ruthless at Turf Moor with two goals from Kai Havertz, between Reece James’ opener and Christian Pulisic’s close-range finish.
Burnley however had opportunities when the scores were level before they fell to a second successive defeat to remain in the relegation zone.
Just two minutes after the restart, James opened the scoring, fire emphatically across Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.
Christian Pulisic’s cross was guided home expertly by Havertz to double the lead, before the German bundled James’ cross over the line.
Pulisic joined the party 21 minutes from time, rounding off a comfortable afternoon for Chelsea, who stayed in third place.
In other Premier League fixtures on Saturday afternoon, Aston Villa hammered Southampton 4-0 at Villa Park, with Danny Ings scoring against his former club, while Newcastle United continued their escape from relegation with a 2-1 win over Brighton at St James Park.
Ryan Fraser and Fabian Schar struck in the first half to give Newcastle United their fifth win in six matches and keep then unbeaten in eight games.
At Carrow Road, Ivan Toney scored Brentford’s first-ever Premier League hat-trick as they defeated Norwich City 3-1 to ease their relegation worries, with Christian Eriksen making his first start since his cardiac arrest in June.
