SPANISH club Huesca have torn up their contract with Kelechi Nwakali.

The second-tier side announced on Tuesday that they would no longer be needing the Super Eagles midfielder’s services, two months to the scheduled termination of the deal.

“The Huesca Sports Club has terminated the contractual relationship that the first-team footballer Kelechi Nwakali maintained with the entity until now,” the club announced on their official website.

“The club has communicated to the player the decision to terminate the contract that he joined both in this campaign and was to expire in June 2022.

“SD Huesca wishes Nwakali the best in his professional future.”

Nwakali has struggled with discipline and consistency since moving to Europe after emerging as the Most Valuable Player at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2015, the same tournament that produced Victor Osimhen.

Since 2016, he has played for six different clubs, including Arsenal U-23s, VVV Venlo and FC Porto B.

He made 19 appearances this season for Huesca in the Spanish second division and played once for the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
