VICTOR Osimhen has been given a clean bill of health ahead of this weekend’s Serie A fixtures.
The Super Eagles striker became an injury doubt for Napoli’s home clash against Fiorentina after leaving training early on Wednesday with a knock.
However, Napoli announced on Thursday that the knock was minor and the Nigeria international would be in contention to feature on Sunday.
“After complaining of a feeling of discomfort during training yesterday Victor Osimhen was seen to by the club’s medical staff,” the club stated on their official website on Thursday.
“The Nigerian forward underwent tests and it was determined that he hadn’t suffered an injury.
“Today Osimhen followed a personalised schedule in training, covering gym and pitch work.”
Osimhen himself assuaged fears of an injury earlier in the day when he wrote on Instagram: “Dear Neopolitans, see you guys on Sunday.”
Although Napoli saw off Atalanta 3-1 last weekend without the suspended Osimhen to go second in the Serie A table, the Nigerian is vital to their title bid.
Despite missing two months of the season due to facial injuries and surgery, Osimhen is still Napoli’s top scorer with 15 goals from 25 appearances in all competitions.
