AIRTEL Nigeria has announced its tier three data center for commercial use, with the goal of offering perfect uptime and unparalleled security for the servers it houses, as well as cloud services for businesses and government agencies across the country.
The Airtel ultra-modern data centre, which has been awarded the high-end tier three ANSI/TIA-942 certification by EPI, the world’s leading certification body for data centres, runs on superior technology that allows it to perform efficiently in Nigeria’s tropical climate while also providing multiple paths and backups to its users.
Surendran Chemmenkotil, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, said the data center’s opening is in response to the company’s overarching goal of promoting digital inclusion and providing unrestricted access and opportunities for entrepreneurs, businesses, and other organizations to enjoy premium data center services in a world-class and reliable facility.

The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Lagos State, Hakeem Fahm, during his tour of the facility in Lekki, Lagos, commended Airtel for its investment in the development of science and technology in Lagos State, noting that the Airtel data center aligns with the State’s mega city plan, particularly in terms of the government’s aspirations in technology.

The Airtel Data Centre will be operational as soon as possible. The tier 3 data center has numerous power and cooling lines, as well as redundant systems that allow technicians to work on the setup without shutting it down.
The Airtel data center is well positioned to serve Nigeria’s massive banking, communications, and other types of businesses.
