LAGOS: Transport union officers clash over control of parks in Ayobo

LOYALISTS of the Chairman of the State Parks Authority, Musiliu Akinsanya alias MC Oluomo and the Chairman of the Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria, Azeez Ajibola, popularly called Istijabah, today, clashed at Ayobo area disrupting the peace and economic activities within the area.

It was learnt that as a result of the weapons deployed by the two parties in the feud, cutlass, bottles and guns, many ran for safety with many traders and workers hurriedly closing their shops and offices.

It was said that the incident started around 8am at Ayobo Bus Stop spreading to Megida and other environ within the locality.

A resident claimed that loyalists of Akinsanya came to Ayobo with various forms of weapon to displace those loyal to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) manning the parks within Ayobo corridor.

It was learnt that while the clashed was on, the Police officers at the Ayobo Police Station did not intervene rather they moved into their station, locked themselves in and watch as the parties fought for supremacy.

It was gathered that some form of peace returned to the area after a team of army officers from OP MESA came to chase away the fueding parties.

It was then that residents could gradually walk around the area though with fear that there may be a reprisal attacks.
