GOVERNOR Babajide Sanwo-Olu says that the state government remains committed to delivering the Blue and Rad Rail lines in the first quarter of 2023, warning residents living on the Orile-Badagry to brace up for the fact that the Blue Rail Line tracks would be Electric Motor Vehicle powered, which makes it deadly to walk on the track.
The governor, who said this after a two-hour inspection of the Blue Rail Line, including riding on a train coach from National Theatre to Mile 2 and back to National Theatre, threatened to go after all those vandalising and selling the iron median used as track barricade.
He added that the companies buying the iron would be shut down.
Sanwo-Olu said that in order for the contractor to meet up with the deadline, it has been working seven-day a week, disclosing that when the Blue Rail Line starts operating, residents will not be able to walk on the rail track because because it would be electrically powered.
He said this is important because the Orile to Mile 2 section of the train track is on ground level while the Orile to Marina track is on elevated concrete.
According to the governor, when the train starts operation, extra security measures would be put in place to ensure the safety and security of passengers as Central Circuit Television (CCTV) to monitor activities.
Sanwo-Olu said the state would bring in additional two sets of four train coaches from China by September and October in preparation for the kick off of the operation.
The governor also made a stop over at the Apongbon Bridge that was earlier gutted by fire giving the traders till trading under and around the bridge another three days ultimatum to vacate the area, having failed to vacate after the earlier ultimatum given by the Federal Government.
