MANCHESTER City returned to the top of the Premier League table with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola’s side needed the three points after Liverpool had overtaken them earlier in the day with victory at Newcastle, and they outclassed their hosts at Elland Road to coast to victory.

The reigning Premier League champions took the lead in the 13th minute when Rodri headed home Phil Foden’s free-kick.

City increased their lead nine minutes after the break as Nathan Ake pounced from close range after Foden’s corner was headed down by Ruben Dias.

England forward Foden was involved again when he set up the third goal for Gabriel Jesus with 12 minutes left, before Fernadinho added the fourth with virtually the last kick of the game.

The result means City are a point ahead of Liverpool, with four games left for both teams in one of the tightest title races in recent times.

Leeds United are however still in relegation trouble as they are five points above the drop zone having played more games than Everton, who are directly below them.

If Everton win their games in hand, they will rise above Leeds United to 17th spot.
