WATFORD have been relegated from the Premier League along with their Nigerian stars led by Emmanuel Dennis and William Troost-Ekong.

Super Eagles forward Dennis, Watford’s top goal contributor this season with 10 goals and six assists, started and played for 78 minutes as Watford lost 1-0 at Crystal Palace today to end their stay in the English top flight.

The result left Watford 12 points from safety. They have only three matches left and can gain a maximum nine points.

Wilfred Zaha scored the game’s only goal from the penalty spot, while Troost-Ekong was a 78th minute substitute for Watford.

The other Super Eagles players at Watford, Oghenekaro Etebo and Samuel Kalu, were unused substitutes.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea blew a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Romelu Lukaku scored twice, one from the penalty spot, in front of Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly but Wolves scored two late goals to draw level.

Substitute Trincao reduced the deficit for the visitors in the 79th minute with a superb long-range effort before Conor Coady headed in the last-gasp equaliser in the seventh minute of added time.

Chelsea are still third despite the draw but they are just four points ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand.

In the other Premier League fixtures today, Brentford, without their injured Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka, defeated Southampton at the Brentford Community Stadium, and relegation candidates Burnley lost 3-1 at home to Aston Villa.
