NYSC anthem composer, Wole Adetiran, dies at 74

THE composer of the National Youth Service Corps’ anthem, Wole Adetiran, is dead.

The Ogun State NYSC Coordinator, Dr Belinda Faniyi, who confirmed the sad development, said Adeniran, 74, died yesterday evening.

It was gathered that the deceased had been battling prostate cancer for years.

Adetiran, an Indigene of Igbajo in Osun State Composed the popular NYSC Anthem in 1984 while serving as a Corp member at the Polytechnic of Ibadan, Oyo State,

He studied music at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

He was also a member of the Celestial Church of Christ, where he was the National Music Director for the CCC Worldwide.

Until his death, he was the church’s National Music Director.
