BORUSSIA Dortmund have completed the signing of Karim Adeyemi as direct replacement for Erling Haaland, who is leaving for Manchester City.

Adeyemi’s move was confirmed yesterday, barely one hour after Haaland’s deal was announced.

“Borussia Dortmund is thrilled to announce the signing of German international, Karim Adeyemi, on a contract until June 2027!” the German club tweeted.

The Germany international forward with Nigerian heritage is moving from Austrian club RB Salzburg for around €38m.

Incidentally, Haaland had also joined Dortmund from Salzburg in 2020.

“As soon as I heard Dortmund were interested in me, I knew I wanted to sign with BVB. I’m convinced that we’re going to form an exciting team,” Adeyemi said.

The youngster also took to social media when the contract was signed, tweeting: “Hello @BlackYellow fans, it is official. I am coming next season to play football and score goals.”

Adeyemi, 20, was born in Munich to a German mother and a Nigerian father, and he chose to play international football for his mother’s country.

He joined Dortmund in the summer of 2018 and played 92 games for them overall, scoring 33 goals and making 23 assists.

The current season has been his most prolific for Salzburg, as he has been directly involved in 31 goals in 42 appearances (23 goals and eight assists).
