SUPER Eagles striker Umar Sadiq is the subject of a transfer tug of war between neighbours Real Betis and Sevilla, according to reports in Spain.

The 25-year-old Nigeria international has been in brilliant form this season, firing Almeira to the verge of promotion to La Liga.

Sadiq, who was in Nigeria’s squad to the Africa Cup of Nations in January, contributing 17 goals and nine assists in 34 matches to shoot Almeira to the top of the Spanish second tier.

Reports in Spain claim that even if Almeira are promoted to the Spanish top flight as expected, Sadiq is likely to leave for one of the more established clubs.

According to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, Almeira will demand at least €25m for Sadiq, whose current contract will expire in 2025.

Indeed, Almeira reportedly rejected an €18m offer for the lanky striker from Getafe last season, dismissing it as ‘derisory’.

Sevilla were also interested last season, but Almeira held on to the Nigerian, insisting they needed him for another promotion push.

Now, Real Betis have joined their neighbours in the race for Sadiq and Finidi George’s former club (Betis) are believed to be leading.

Almeira are reportedly not satisfied with Sevilla’s offer while Real Betis are willing to pay more.
