THE Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s 2019 award of a 49 million dollar contract to Technimont for an integrity test of Nigerian refineries has been questioned by the House of Representatives (NNPC).
The inquiry was made by Rep. Ganiyu Johnson, the head of the House ad hoc committee looking into the condition of the refineries, at a meeting with company and NNPC representatives on Thursday in Abuja.
Johnson maintained that because the condition of the refineries was not inspected, the corporation had not properly carried out the terms of the contract.
He further attributed the refineries’ current situation to the NNPC’s failure to perform routine turnaround maintenance on them.
He requested that the corporation and the NNPC present the contract paperwork to the committee for review, in particular the Federal Executive Council approval and payment evidence showing the amount of work completed.
